Nigeria fears it may miss its 70% local content by 2010 target
The Nigerian (link to day 1, 9h50) Content Policy and its implementation have taken the industry by storm and has occupied the center of national discourse in the last three years. The policy espouses value creation/addition in-country with a view to domiciling supply of goods and services in-country and its implementation commenced with fabrication and engineering in consideration of existing infrastructure and pattern of industry spend. Tremendous progress has been made in the areas of domiciliation of supplies and sources as well as establishment of manufacturing/assembly plants but there are challenges.
